The new generation 2015 Subaru WRX STI has just been unveiled today at the Detroit Auto Show (2014 NAIAS). As we previously announced, the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine that develops 305 hp (SAE) at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine of the new Subaru WRX STI (2015) is mated to a reinforced 6-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter and launch control. The new engine of the 2015 WRX STI comes with Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS). The new version of the sports car comes with Incline Start Assist and an all-wheel drive system. The new WRX STI (2015) is equipped with a stiffer chassis, firmer springs and faster steering (13.0:1 ratio), Active Torque Vectoring, Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control, and a Brembo Performance Brake System with Super Sport ABS.

For the interior of the 2015 WRX STI, Subaru is offering Alcantara-covered sport seats, red and black leather bolsters with red stitching, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a harman/kardon premium audio system.

The 2015 Subaru WRX STI comes with an aluminum hood, a distinctive front grille, newly designed headlights, standard LED low-beam headlights and a distinctive body kit (fenders, doors and quarters, bumpers, headlights and taillight clusters). As you can imagine, there's a hood scoop that feeds air to the intercooler, a large rear wing, a rear diffuser and LED rear lights.

For the new WRX STI (2015), Subaru chose an inverted-strut front suspension with aluminum front lower L-arms, 18-inch BBS alloys.

The 2015 WRX STI's Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) powertrain management system offers three settings: Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp. The Multi-Mode DCCD All-Wheel Drive with Three-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control of the 2015 Subaru WRX STI uses planetary-type center differential gears with a nominal 41:59 torque split, a mechanical limited-slip type center differential, and an electronically controlled center differential. A helical-type limited-slip front differential and a TORSEN torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential optimize side-to-side torque distribution. The DCCD AWD system offers three automatic modes.

At the interior, the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is equipped with 60/40-split fold-down rear seats, Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5-in. central LCD screen, soft-touch materials, multi-information central display with 4.3-in. LCD screen, a VDC screen showing traction control operation, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The 2015 WRX STI comes as standard with an audio system that combines AM/FM stereo with HD Radio, a single-disc in-dash CD player, 6 speakers, MP3/WMA capability, Radio Data Broadcast System (RDBS), Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming, iPod control capability, iTunes Tagging, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (subscription required), USB port and a 3.5mm auxiliary audio input jack. Optionally, you can equip your new WRX STI (2015) with touch-screen navigation, a 6.1-inch LCD screen and offers voice controls.

The 2015 Subaru WRX STI's price and availability are going to be announced at a later date. The new WRX STI (2015) measures 4,595 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, 1,475 mm in height and it has a 2,650-mm long wheelbase.
