Aston Martin announced today that it will premiere a new Zagato model at this year's Villa d’Este Concours on 21st May 2011. The model will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato, which is the first model to come out of the collaboration between the two companies. The new Aston Martin Zagato will be a race car and it will debut on the Nurburgring later in this month.
Aston Martin says the new Zagato model is just a concept at the moment, but it hopes it will go into production in 2012. They will show the new Zagato styled vehicle at the Villa d’Este Concours to gauge initial customer reaction.
In terms of design, the new Aston Zagato will be
a modern interpretation of the classic DB4GT. Judging from the teaser image Aston Martin released, the new Zagato will be a two-door sports coupe, with a rather racing look. It will have wide rear wings and a broad front spoiler.
So far Aston Martin did not disclose any details regarding the new Zagato, leaving room for a lot of speculations.

Historically, Zagato designed Aston Martins were built in small numbers, and were priced considerably higher than the standard versions. Expect the new Zagato to follow the same pattern.
Aston Martin Design Director, Marek Reichman said: "Working with Zagato again in 2011 is inspirational for the team – certainly DB4GT Zagato is one of my favorite ever designs as it
is with many of the designers in our studio. We can create a truly modern Aston Martin interpretation which stays true to the historical routes of the relationship with Zagato."

"Now is the right time for a new Aston Martin Zagato and in combining our design intelligence I think we can create something fitting of the iconic DB4GT Zagato that has gone before and since established itself as one of the most famous Aston Martins of all time."
