The full specifications and details of the future BMW 2 Series leaked over the web today. Apparently, there are going to be three versions of the 2 Series Bimmer, which include the petrol 2201, the diesel 220d and the high-performance M235i. The BMW 2 Series measures 4,454 mm in length, 1,774 mm in width and 1,408 mm in height. It has a 2,690 mm long wheelbase. BMW's 2 Series weighs 1,455 kg and it offers a 390-liter luggage compartment. BMW's specs say that the new 2 Series has a drag coefficient of 0.33 Cd. We'll start with the performance version of the new 2 Series. According to the Bavarian carmaker's specs, the BMW M235i is powered by the well-known 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, which has an output of 240 kW at 5,800 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 1,300 rpm and 4,500 rpm.
With this engine, the BMW M235i is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.0 seconds (manual transmission) or 4.8 seconds with the automatic gearbox. The top speed of the M235i is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). The specifications say that the M235i Bimmer offers a fuel economy of 10.9 (10.3 automatic) l/100 km in the city, of 6.4 (5.9 automatic) l/100 km on the highway and of 8.1 (7.6 automatic) l/100 km in the combined cycle. The M235i's CO2 emissions are rated at 189 g/km (176 g/km automatic).
The BMW 220i is powered by a 2.0-liter 4 cylinder engine that's good for 135 kW at 5,000 rpm and 270 Nm of torque between 1,250 rpm and 4,500 rpm. The BMW 220i is able to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.0 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 235 km/h. The manual gearbox version of the 220i is rated with a fuel consumption of 8.3 l/100 km / 4.8 l/100 km / 6.1 l/100 km in the city/highway/combined cycle and with a 142 g/km CO2 emissions level. The BMW 220i automatic offers the following figures, respectively: 7.7 l/100 km / 4.6 l/100 km / 5.7 l/100 km in the city/highway/combined and 134 g/km.
The diesel version of the 2 Series, the BMW 220d comes with a 2.0-liter engine rated with 135 kW at 4000 rpm and 380 Nm of torque between 1,750 rpm and 2,750 rpm. With a maximum speed of 230 km/h, the BMW 220d can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.2 seconds (7.1 seconds automatic). The official efficiency figures of the 220d are:
