 »  »  »

Believe it or not this vehicle, which was built between 1919 and 1920, develops no less than 350 hp. The Sunbeam 350hp was the brainchild of Sir Malcolm Campbell, who managed to break several world speed records on land and on water during the 1920s and 1930s. Malcolm Campbell's Sunbeam 350hp is powered by a huge aircraft 18.322-litre V12 modified Manitou Arab aero engine. This engine was used on various naval seaplanes. The Sunbeam 350hp holds three world land speed records. The first one was achieved by Kenelm Lee Guinness at Brooklands in 1922 with a speed of 133.75mph. The second one was achieved by Campbell in in September 1924 (146.16mph) at Pendine in South Wales. The third one was also achieved by Campbell in 1925 (150.76mph).

Yesterday, the Sunbeam 350hp was fired up for the first time in fifty years, as it was completely rebuilt by the British National Motor Museum.
