Chevrolet premiered today the new 2012 Colorado, which GM designed to be its most capable and refined midsize pickup truck. The 2012 Chevrolet Colorado will be powered by a 2.5-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine, developing 150 hp (110 kW) and 258 lb.-ft. of torque (350 Nm), or a larger 2.8-liter Duramax with 180 hp (132 kW) and 346 lb.-ft. of torque (470 Nm) (6-speed automatic transmission ) or 324 lb.-ft. (440 Nm) (5-speed manual). The 2012 Chevy Colorado will go on sale this month offering a range of no less than 26 versions. Chevrolet will sell the 2012 Colorado with a choice between a single, extended and crew cab, two ride heights, and wide / narrow body styles. Chevy's 2012 Colorado will be available with both a rear-wheel-drive drive and a four-wheel-drive system.

Chevrolet will offer the new Colorado in three trim levels (LS, LT and LTZ) and with a choice between two setups for the chassis and suspension. Even though they did not announce the payload and tow capacity of the 2012 Colorado, Chevrolet does mention that it will be suitable for both hauling and towing.

In terms of exterior design, the 2012 Chevrolet Colorado comes with a new front fascia, featuring re-designed headlights, bumper and grille, and a new rear end with LED tail lamps.



The interior of the Chevrolet Colorado has also been re-styled for 2012. The pickup now features LED illuminated instrument cluster and HVAC controls, chrome accents, USB connectivity, and between 19 and 30 storage spaces, depending on the version.

For the 2012 Chevrolet, Chevrolet will offer such safety systems as ESC, ABS with EBD, traction control, hydraulic brake assist and cornering brake control. The 2012 Colorado will also come with several airbags for the driver and passengers.

The 2012 Chevrolet Colorado price list will be announced at a later date.
