The latest generation European 2012 Honda Civic hatch has its premiere today in Frankfurt, and the Japanese manufacturer released all its details and specifications, finally. Honda will offer the new 2012 Civic hatch on the EU and British markets with a choice between three engines: 2.2-liter i-DTEC developing 150 PS, a 1.8 liter i-VTEC with an output of 142 PS and a 1.4 liter i-VTEC which will send 100 Ps to the car's front wheels. The European hatchback version of the 5-door 2012 Honda Civic measures 4300 mm in length, 1770 mm in width, 1440 mm in height and has a 2595 mm wheelbase.

In terms of efficiency figures, the 2012 Civic hatch 2.2 has a 4.2 l /100 km/h combined fuel consumption and a 110 g/km CO2 emissions level.

The 1.8-liter version of the 5-door hatchback offers a 5.8 l/100 km (manual transmission) / 6.3 l / 100 km (automatic gearbox) fuel economy and a 137(MT)/148(AT) g/km CO2 emissions level. the entry level 1.4-liter version of the 2012 Civic can offer a 5.4 l/100 km fuel economy with a 129 g/km CO2 emissions level. What's interesting is that the largest, most powerful engine of the 2012 Civic range is also the most frugal end environment friendly of all.

The comparison to the previous version of the 5-door Civic, the 2012 hatchback sits 20 mm lower,

but at the same time is 10 mm wider. This should definitely improve its handling and cornering stability.

Honda designed the interior of the 2012 Civic hatch to resemble and airplane cockpit, offering a driver oriented dashboard and center console. Even though Honda completely re-designed the exterior of the 2012 Civic hatch, the car still has the same overall look as the first generation of the model. We're sure that this aspect will ensure its market success. The distinctive design features of the 2012 Honda Civic Hatch include the new headlights and LED daytime running lights, the slightly modified front grille and the rear stop light which now extends along the whole width of the car. The stylish rear stop light also works as an aerodynamic spoiler.

The 2012 Honda Civic Hatch price list for the European market has not been announced yet, but the Japanese car manufacturer says it will put it on sale from early next year.
