Volkswagen launched this week the updated version of the Gol (2013), which is a small model developed for Brazil and South America. The new 2013 Volkswagen Gol features VW's new face. It comes with re-designed headlights, a new front grille and bumper and a modified rear end. Volkswagen will sell the 2013 Gol as a five-door hatchback and as a four-door sedan, which is going to be called the Voyage. Both, the 2013 VW Gol and the Voyage, are going to be sold with an updated 1.0L TEC engine, which offers 4% better efficiency than its predecessor. The new Volkswagen Gol 1.0L develops 76 hp (56 kW) at 5,250 rpm and 104 Nm at 3,850 rpm, when powered by ethanol (E100). When running on gasoline, the same engine outputs 72 hp (53 kW) at 5,250 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 3,850 rpm.
Volkswagen will make the 2013 Gol available with a larger, 1.6-liter engine too. This model puts out 104 hp (76 kW) at 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm on ethanol. On petrol, the 1.6L version of the 2013 Gol develops 3 hp and 2 Nm less. In terms of transmission options, VW offers the DSG gearbox on the 1.6L model and the I-Motion.
The new Volkswagen Gol (2013) comes equipped as standard with electric front windows, and central locking. The BlueMotion Technology package will also be available on the new Gol, helping reduce the car's fuel consumption by up to 8%. Some of the new features of the 2013 Gol include the ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) which alerts the driver behind of an emergency braking maneuver. The 2013 VW Gol's price and availability will be announced at a later date.
