Ariel revealed this week the new Atom 3.5R and announced its price as well as its power output. The new Ariel Atom 3.5R weighs just 550 kg, but it has a power output of 350 hp at 8,400 rpm thanks to a 2.0-liter engine. This gives it a very serious power-to-weight ratio of 636 hp per ton. The new engine of the Ariel Atom 3.5R comes from a Honda Civic Type-R, but it has been heavily modified. Ariel rates the Atom 3.5R with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds, which is very close to the Bugatti Veyron. The Atom 3.5R needs just 6.0 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 mph (160 km/h). The extra power of the Ariel Atom 3.5R comes from increased boost (from 7.5 psi to 11 psi) and a custom sidepod-mounted intercooler.
Apart from the engine modifications, the Ariel Atom 3.5R is also fitted with an adjustable limited slip diff, Ohlins springs, TTX adjustable dampers, and 4-piston brake calipers.
The Ariel Atom 3.5R's price is set at 80,000 GBP.
