Brabus announced today that the debut of their Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster aftermarket program will take place at the 2011 Essen Motor Show. With more than 600 hp under its belly, and a titanium high-performance exhaust equipped with "wake-up-your-neighbors" valves, Brabus's SLS AMG Roadster is bound to be one of the stars of this year's Essen tuning show. The power of the Brabus SLS Roadster comes from the factory 6.3-liter V8 engine, which has been upgraded to output 611 hp (600 bhp) / 448 kW. The torque figure has not been disclosed. To get the extra horsepowers, Brabus uses a re-calibrated ECU, and a new exhaust system with 84 millimeters (3.3 inches) tailpipes. The new exhaust system of the Brabus Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster, which is 12 kg (26.5 lbs.) or 40% lighter than the factory one, comes with a set of butterfly valves, which are activated automatically when the car runs in the Sport mode.
The roadster version of the Brabus Mercedes SLS AMG has basically the same aerodynamics package as the Gullwing. With a few minor tweaks, Brabus engineers made it fit on the open-top version of the model too. The body kit includes new front and rear spoilers, side skirts, a rear diffuser and a boot lid fin. Most of the parts are made from carbon so they won't add much to the overall weight of the car.
For the interior of the SLS roadster, Brabus offers a 400 km/h (250 mph) speedometer, a sport steering wheel, stainless-steel sill plates with the tuner's logo and matte-anodized pedals. Various other styling upgrades are also available.
Brabus will announce the price of their SLS AMG Roadster mods at a later date.
The Brabus Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster comes with a choice between 21- or 22-inch alloys, covered in Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA tires, and a BILSTEIN suspension, which lowers the ride height by 40 mm (1.6 inches). The damper settings can be controlled via a button on the car's dashboard. Brabus can fit the Mercedes' SLS roadster with their Front Lift System, which is very helpful for getting over speed humps.
