Mercedes announced this week new details regarding their new SLS AMG Roadster, including price information and availability. The SLS Roadster will go on sale on the North American market from this fall, while Europe will be able to start ordering it from June 1st, 2011.
Like the coupe, the Mercedes SLS Roadster has a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive architecture and it's powered by AMG's 6.3-liter V8 engine. It has an output of 563 hp and 479 pound-feet of torque and comes equipped with a 7-speed dual clutch transaxle transmission and a sports suspension with aluminum double wishbones.
The Mercedes SLS Roadster has the same equipment level and 'luxuries' as its hard-top, coupe
brother. However, the Mercedes SLS Roadster doesn't feature the Gullwing opening doors. Instead it has a fabric soft-top, that can be opened and closed in 11 seconds.
In terms of performance figures, the Mercedes SLS Roadster is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and has a limited top speed of 317 km/h.
The Mercedes SLS Roadster price list for the European market starts at 195,160 EUR.
