The Lotus Racing Kart team was announced today, making the company the first car manufacturer to have a presence at the entry level of motorsport. Lotus' Racing Kart team will compete in the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship 2012, with the aim of finding new talent. The purpose of the new kart racing team is not just to find talented driver. Lotus is also on the lookout for future talented engineers and designers.
The 'Lotus Racing Karts' team is part of the Lotus Motorsport division and Jefra Racing from Treviso, Italy will operate it. Lotus says that their new karting team will have two new chassis to play with: the Colin C30 and the Jimmy C32. Lotus' karts will be built by Wildkart, a company that entered this business in 2002.
Previously, they were specialists in aeronautics.
Team Lotus Racing Karts will announced its drivers at a later date.
