Morgan Plus 8

The Morgan Plus 8 will have its world premiere at this year's Geneva motor show, in March. Morgan says about the Plus 8, which weighs just 1100 kg, that it's the lightest V8 passenger car in the world to comply with the European safety standards. Morgan also claims that you won't be able to find a convertible roadster, which has a stiffer chassis than the Plus 8. All we know is this: when you put a 4.8-liter V8 engine in a car that weighs a bit more than 1000 kg, wonderful things start to happen. The Plus 8 is powered by the same BMW V8 as the new Morgan Aero Coupe. This means it has an output of 367 bhp (390bhp with the sports exhaust system) and 490 Nm of torque. The Morgan Plus 8 is available in two versions: with a 6-speed automatic transmission, or with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The automatic offers two driving modes: Sport and Auto.

The performance figures of the Morgan Plus 8 say it can rocket from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds (manual) / 4.2 seconds (automatic), and that it has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Morgan presents the Plus 8 as being "a true drivers car". It comes with various sensors, which work together with the roadster's Electronic Control Unit to offer the best possible performance.

The equipment list of Morgan's Plus 8 includes a mohair convertible roof, air conditioning, leather upholstery, and a radio/CD player.

Morgan will announce the price and availability of the Plus 8 at a later date.
