Greenpeace launched this week two new commercials that spoof Volkswagen's little Darth Vader ad, which aired during 2011 Super Bowl. Greenpeace's new ads feature, alongside little Vader, a few other characters from the movie, including Princess Leia, Chewbacca, 3PO, and R2D2. They even made a Death Star painted with the VW logo, implying that Volkswagen is the new Evil Empire. The environmental organization hopes its new adverts will make Volkswagen run away from the "dark side" of CO2 emissions.
Greenpeace claims that Volkswagen is opposing the new European Union regulations on exhaust gas emissions. The new laws will impose lower CO2 levels for all new cars sold in the EU.
We're not really sure that Volkswagen should be the main focus point of Greenpeace's fight against CO2 emissions, but the ads are almost as funny as the original. VW's original little Darth Vader ad and the two parodies are available lower down his page.
