Apart from the open-top version of the Golf R, Volkswagen also premiered today at the 2011 Worthersee meet the cabriolet version of the Golf GTI. VW did not release any details yet regarding the Golf GTI Cabriolet, as the vehicle on display is still a concept. We can assume however, that the production version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet will have the same engine as the hard-top model. This means that the Golf GTI cabrio will be powered by a 2.0-liter TSI engine developing 210 PS, that will be able to take it from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.2 seconds. The top speed of the cabriolet Golf GTI will be around the 148 mph mark.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet is expected to have a 37.6 mpg fuel consumption and to emit 178 g/km of CO2.

In terms of equipment, we can expect the same features as in the case of the hard-top GTI. In other words, Volkswagen will equip the Golf GTI cabrio with the XDS limited slip diff, and the new ESP Electronic Stabilization Program.

The VW Golf GTI Cabriolet on display in Worthersee is a concept, so we should expect that the production version will look a bit different. For instance, the awesome rims, the front lower lip and the exhaust tips might get replaced when the model arrives on the market.

We'll have more details on VW's Golf GTI cabrio as soon as they're available.
