Volkswagen revealed at their annual Worthersee meet the new Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition, which was developed by twelve of its apprentices. The Volkswagen Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition is powered by the 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine, which has been upgraded. It develops now 380 PS (279 kW). The VW Golf GTI Wolfsburg is finished in Absolute red and it comes with various Negro Magico black decorations. To get the extra power, the Golf GTI Wolfsburg comes with a re-mapped ECU, a carbon air box and a hand-welded stainless steel exhaust system with vacuum valve control. For the interior of the Golf GTI Wolfsburg, Volkswagen's apprentices chose a black with red accents theme. The car is entirely hand-painted and was ground and polished several times to ensure a seamless paint finish.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Wolfsburg comes with a unique body kit that includes spoilers, claw-type inserts on the front bumper, door sills, a rear spoiler with additional flaps and a rear diffuser. At the interior, the VW Golf GTI Wolfsburg features Recaro sport bucket seats, black leather upholstery, a black leather multi-function steering wheel, and an integrated, stowable iPhone Docking Station. The Wolfsburg Golf GTI is equipped with a charge air pressure display, a stopwatch, an oil temperature gauge, and a high-and sound system with an output of 2,170 W (11 on-board speakers, a monobloc amplifier with integrated LED lighting, subwoofer). There's also a PlayStation with 24-inch LED-LCD TV.
