The first images and details of the Volkswagen Golf VII GTI leaked over the web today. According to the German press, the VW Golf VII GTI is going to be launched in the autumn of 2013. The vehicle you see in these images is a concept of the Golf 7 GTI, which is going to have its premiere tomorrow at the 2012 Paris auto show. However, the production version of the Golf VII GTI will look almost identical. In comparison to the standard Golf 7, the GTI shows a new front bumper with integrated fog lights and a new grille with the trademark red line. The GTI version of the Golf 7 also seems to have slightly different headlights, and taillights. Its rear also shows two exhaust pipes, one on each side.

The Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged engine, which puts out 220 hp and 350 Nm of torque. However, Volkswagen is expected to offer a power package for the Golf 7 GTI, which increases the output to 230 hp. According to our sources, the new GTI is able to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds (6.5 seconds with the power pack) and to reach a top speed of 152 mph (just under 250 km/h). In terms of efficiency, the VW Golf 7 GTI is going to offer a fuel economy on the combined cycle of 6.6 liters / 100 km.

We'll have more details about the Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI as soon as they're available.
