Volkswagen presented at this year's Golf GTI Roadster at the carmaker's annual meet with its fans, which take place in Worthersee, Austria. The Volkswagen Golf GTI Roadster concept was announced last week as the Golf GTI Vision GranTurismo - a concept that's going to be featured in the Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) video game for Sony PlayStation 3. The VW Golf GTI Roadster was designed in-house to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the video Gran Turismo game. The design of the Golf GTI Roadster is the work of Malte Hammerbeck, Domen Rucigaj and Guillermo Mignot. The Golf GTI Roadster has a 2,494 mm wheelbase (137 mm shorter than that of the production Golf GTI). It measures 1,090 mm in height, 1,894 mm in width and 4,158 mm in length.

To power the Golf GTI Roadster, Volkswagen chose the 3.0-litre V6 biturbo TSI engine, which has been tuned to develop 503 PS and 560 Nm between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. You get 500 Nm of torque from as low as 2,000 rpm.

The VW Golf GTI Roadster is equipped with a 7-speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. With a weight of just 1,420 kg, this powertrain helps the Golf GTI Roadster accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 190 mph. The GTI Roadster is fitted with ceramic brakes, 20-inch alloys, and high performance tires.

Volkswagen says they currently have no plans of putting the Golf GTI Roadster into production. Here are the full details and specifications of the new concept.
