Volkswagen announced today the 2012 Beetle price list for the North American market. At launch, the 2012 VW Beetle will be available with a choice between two engine, a 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder turbocharged unit developing 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque and a 2.5-liter in-line five-cylinder engine with an output of 170 hp. VW says that the 2012 Beetle 2.0L will offer a fuel economy of up to 30 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg city. The 2012 Beetle 2.5L will have a 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway EPA fuel economy when equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission, and a 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway fuel consumption when equipped with the five-speed manual gearbox. As an option, VW will also offer the DSG dual-clutch transmission.

In the future, Volkswagen will also sell the 2012 Beetle with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine (2.0 TDI Clean Diesel) with an output of 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TDI will have an estimate fuel consumption of 40 mpg on the highway.

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is lower, longer and wider than the previous generation, and it comes with 19 inch rims, Performance-Handling Packages, sport seats, Bluetooth, a Fender Premium Audio System, and a slide and tilt panoramic roof. The equipment list of the 2012 Beetle will also



include Keyless Access with push- button start, BI-XENON headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights and a leather upholstery.

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle price list starts at 18,995 USD for the 2.5L model and at 23,395 USD for the 2.0 TSI version. The price for the 2012 Beetle 2.0 TDI will be announced at a later date.
