To mark the launch of the new generation 2012 VW Beetle in the United States, Volkswagen of America, Inc. will offer a special edition model, called the Black Turbo. The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Black Turbo is available only through the Vehicle Pre-Order (VPO) program, and VW says it will sell 600 of them. Volkswagen's Turbo Beetle is powered by the 2.0-liter TSI in-line four-cylinder turbocharged engine which develops 200 hp and 207 lb-ft. of torque. VW says that the 2012 Beetle Turbo has a 30 mpg fuel consumption on the highway when equipped with the automatic transmission. Volkswagen sells the Beetle Turbo with the fast-shifting DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Standard features of the VW Beetle Turbo include

Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, 3-color ambient lighting, large brakes with red calipers for that go-faster look, and a "kaeferfach" glovebox. The 2012 Beetle Turbo also comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, foglights, and alloy pedals. For entertainment purposes, Volkswagen equips the new Beetle Turbo with their RCD 310 sound system with eight speakers.

The Volkswagen Beetle Turbo price starts at 24,950 USD. The reservation fee for the Turbo Beetle is set at 495 USD, and goes towards the final purchase of the car.

VW says that the 2.5-liter version of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will go on sale in the USA this fall and it will be priced from 18,995. The 2012 VW Beetle TDI will come in 2012.
