Volkswagen revealed today at the Worthersee the Golf R Cabriolet concept, together with a fleet of its latest models and a few special edition versions. Even though its still in a concept form, the cabriolet version of VW's Golf R is powered by the same 2.0 TSI petrol engine as its hard-top brother. This means the power output of the Golf R cabrio is 199 kW / 270 PS and 350 Nm of torque from 2,500 rpm. Volkswagen says that the Golf R Cabriolet is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.0 seconds and that it can reach a top speed of 250 km/h. These figures make the Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet the fastest open-top Golf ever made.

In comparison to the regular Golf, the Golf R cabrio has a 25 mm lowered ride height,

thanks to the same sport chassis as the hard-top. Volkswagen also equipped the convertible version of the Golf R with 17 inch internally ventilated brake discs on all wheels, blue calipers with the R logo, and 19-inch Talladega alloy wheels with 235 tires.

At the interior, the Golf R cabriolet features front bucket seats with a dark blue carbon / Pure Grey Nappa leather combination. Other interior styling accents featured by the Volkswagen Golf R cabrio include aluminum door sill plates, carbon fiber inserts, and black piano paint inlays.

Volkswagen did not yet announce when will the Golf R cabriolet will enter production.
