Volkswagen presented today the E-Up (2014) production version today at the company's Annual Press and Investors Conference. The Volkswagen E-Up was first introduced as a concept back in September 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. VW plans to premiere its production version at the same auto show this year. The VW E-Up will go on sale soon after, but its price has not been announced yet. The 2014 E-Up is powered by an electric motor that has a maximum output of 60 kW / 82 PS. It continuous power is 40 kW / 55 PS and 210 Nm of torque. It has no gearshifts. The 2014 Volkswagen E-Up can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 14 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 135 km/h. The E-Up's engine is juiced by an 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that's integrated into the floor of the car.

The battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in just 30 minutes. The VW E-Up's maximum range is rated at 150 km, which is possible greatly thanks to its low weight of 1,185 kg.

The new Volkswagen E-Up (2014) has been developed as a four-seat urban vehicle or for commuters. To recharge the battery, you can use its Combined Charging System (CCS) that has been standardized by various carmakers.

Volkswagen equips the E-Up with LED daytime running lights, 15-inch alloys and an aerodynamically optimized front bumper, side sills and underbody. For the interior of the E-Up, Volkswagen is offering fabric seats, and leather and chrome accents.

We'll have more information about the production version of the E-Up as soon as VW makes it available.
