Volkswagen revealed today the production version of the !Up concept, which had its premiere four years ago, in 2007. The Volkswagen !Up is a small 3-door model, measuring 3.54 m in length and 1.64 m in height, which offers space for four passengers. VW developed the !Up for urban use, and announces that it's the first model in its class to be equipped with City Emergency Braking. The Volkswagen !Up is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine, available in two versions, with outputs of 44 kW / 60 PS and 55 kW / 75 PS. VW is offering the !Up with BlueMotion Technology, including a Stop/Start system, and says it's able to offer a fuel economy of 4.2 l/100 km (60 PS) and 4.3 l/100 km (75 PS). Volkswagen says that the new !Up emits less than 100 g/km of CO2.

In the future, the VW !Up will also be available with a natural gas engine developing 50 kW / 68 PS, which will offer a 3.2 l/100 km fuel consumption and a 86 g/km CO2 emissions level. With BlueMotion Technology, the natural gas version of the !Up will emit 79 g/km of CO2. In 2013, Volkswagen plans to offer an electric version of the !Up.

Volkswagen equipped the !Up with a new safety features, called City Emergency Braking. This new system is active at speed below 30 km/h is able to reduce the speed of the vehicle in order to



avoid a collision, or reduce its impact.

The interior of the Volkswagen !Up features a new Dash Pad, which is basically an instrument pad, and all sorts of boxes, including a "city box", a "travel box" and a "kid box". The equipment list of the VW !Up features a mobile Portable Infotainment Device (PID), which includes the navigation system, telephone, and the information and entertainment system. The PID comes with a touchscreen, which can also be used for the ParkPilot (a system that controls the car’s distance to the next vehicle).

The Volkswagen !Up price list will be announced at a later date.

The world debut of the Volkswagen !Up will take place at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Auto show next month, and the new model will go on sale across Europe from December. Other markets will follow.
