Apparently, the CO2 emissions scandal it's not the end of the problems for Volkswagen. After they admitted to falsifying the CO2 emissions of their vehicles, the German prosecutors started a new criminal investigation against the group. This time, the German authorities are investigating into possible tax violations. Currently, prosecutors in Brunswick are looking into the emissions violations of VW's Group diesel (TDI) engines. These engines are used by several of the carmaker's brands, which includes Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, and Audi. Apparently, prosecutors are also looking into the emission levels of the group's petrol engines too. Inside sources say that there are five people under investigation, but their names are currently a closely kept secret.

It's estimated that Volkswagen's financial risk of the manipulation of CO2 ratings is about 2.1 billion Euros. Drivers pay less taxes since their cars allegedly emit less CO2. The German government is planning to recover the lost revenue in taxes.

Apparently, VW set aside 6.7 billion Euros to fix the diesel engine with software that manipulates CO2 emissions. We'll have more details on the matter as soon as they are available.
