Volkswagen announced today that the world debut of the new generation, 2012 Beetle, will take place at the Shanghai auto show on April 18th, 2011. In fact Volkswagen will premiere the new 2012 Beetle on three continents parallel. The 2012 VW Beetle's Chinese debut will take place during a special MTV Sound System event, hosted by MTV VJ’s. VW will also premiere the 2012 Beetle in Berlin and New York City, during similar events, hosted by MTV World Stage.
In NY, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will be greeted by The Black Eyed Peas, who will play The Beginning, while in Berlin, Belgian duo 2manydjs will perform at the city's E-Werk space. The New York performance will be streamed live on www.WorldStage.MTV.com.
So, VW is preparing a huge event to mark the debut of the new Beetle. It would've been nice to also release a few images and details of the 2012 Beetle with this announcement. Well, we'll just have to wait for a few more days to see the new bug.
UPDATE: Guess what?!? The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle was premiered on 18 April, 2011.
