New 2012 Volkswagen Beetle info has surfaced today as the next generation model was spied almost completely undisguised. The next-gen 2012 Volkswagen Beetle was caught on camera during testing in Bavaria, Germany, and is expected to make its world debut sometime next year. Unfortunately, the details of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle are scarce at the moment. However, we can make a few observations based on the new spy photos. The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle seems to have a much lower profile, with an almost flat roof, and new design lines that go from the front to the rear of the car. The extruded wheel arches that made the model an icon, are still present. The doors, windows, and overall feel of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle have also underwent various modifications, which will be more obvious when you'll see the car in "person".

Various sources, are reporting that the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will offer a range of petrol and diesel engines, including a 1.2 TSI with 105 hp, a 1.4 TSI with 160 hp, and a more powerful 2.0 TSI with 210 hp. The diesel range of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will include a 1.6 TDI with 105 hp, and a 2.0 TDI with 140 hp. It's very possible that VW will also launch a Volkswagen Beetle R, which will have a quite high HP output. The VW Beetle R however, is just a speculation at the moment. VW's trick DSG gearbox is also expected to make its debut on the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.

The debut of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is expected to take place at the Geneva auto show, next March.
