Acura revealed today a special 2016 NSX, which is going to be the official pace car for the 2015 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is one of the toughest and most dangerous races of the motorsport season. It takes place on a 12.4-mile, 156-turn course up a 14,110-foot Colorado mountain and it features race cars from all categories. This year there're going to be 140 entrants. The Acura NSX Pikes Peak pace car is powered by a 75-degree twin-turbo V6 engine, which is coupled with a 9-speed dual clutch gearbox, and a Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system that includes three electric motors. Its internal combustion engine alone develops 550 hp.

This Acura NSX was developed especially for Pikes Peak by Honda R&D Americas and it will be driven up the hill by Sage Marie, senior manager of American Honda Public Relations. Sage Marie is a two-time Pikes Peak competitor and road racer.

The Acura NSX takes its name from the road racing legend that was the Honda NSX. Ayrton Senna had one especially built for him. The new Acura NSX aims to be a serious rival for the Audi R8.
