AeroMobil 3.0: A Functional Flying Car

 »  »  »

Is this the first truly functional and practical flying car? We've all been dreaming about a flying car since forever. Is this the moment we actually get to see one? This is the AeroMobil 3.0 and it comes from Slovakia. The company is currently testing it to see how well it performs during flight. The AeroMobil 3.0 is built on a steel framework and it has carbon fiber panels. It measures 8,320 mm in width, when the wings are deployed, and 2,240 mm on the road. The AeroMobil is six meter long and it's a two seater. The power comes from an engine called Rotax 912. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not disclose its specs yet. When in "car" mode, the AeroMobil 3.0 has a top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h), a range of 540 miles (875 km) and an 8.0 l/100 km fuel consumption.

In airplane mode, the AeroMobil 3.0 has a minimum speed of 40 mph (60 km/h), a take-off speed of 90 mph (130 km/h) and a range of 430 miles (700 km). As an airplane, the AeroMobil 3.0 has a fuel consumption of 15 liters per hour.

As we see it, the AeroMobil 3.0 is still under testing, so you won't be able to get one just yet. However, the AeroMobil 3.0 is among the most promising "flying car" prototypes we have seen so far.
