The production version of the Renault ZOE (2013) has been revealed during the opening day of the 2012 Geneva motor show. Measuring 4,084 mm in length, 1,730 mm in width and 1,568 mm in height, the 2013 Renault ZOE offers seating for five passengers and a 338-liter boot. The 2013 Zoe is an electric vehicle, powered by a synchronous motor with a rotor coil, which is good for 65 kW (88 hp) and 220 Nm of torque. The juice up the motor of the Zoe, Renault uses Lithium-ion batteries, which offer a range of up to 130 miles. In the city the range drops to about 60 miles on cold weather or 90 miles during the summer.
Thew top speed of the 2013 Zoe is rated at 84 mph, but its 0-62 mph acceleration time has not been announced.
Renault says that the new ZOE (2013) can be recharged in 9 hours from a wall socket, or in 1 hour from a 22kW (32A three-phase charging station) source. If you have access to a 43kW (63A three-phase charging station) power source, you'll be able to juice up your Zoe in just 30 minutes. All this recharging business is down through Renault's special device called the Chameleon charger.
Renault equipped the ZOE (2013) with a regenerative braking system and a special heat pump for warming up its interior. This system has a very low power consumption.
To further reduce the Zoe's consumption, Renault equips it with special MICHELIN Energy E-V tires, which are available in 15- and 16-inch versions.
Renault announced that it will equip the 2013 Zoe with the new R-Link multimedia system, which includes a seven-inch display, steering wheel-mounted controls and voice recognition. The R-Link Store will offer up to 50 applications for your Zoe. You also be able to remotely communicate with your Zoe through your Smartphone or computer. Through this system, you'll be able to control the charging of its battery, or to activate its air conditioning system.
Another interesting feature of the 2013 Renault Zoe is the 'Take Care' system, which offers a relaxing or stimulating scent diffuser, a dual-mode purifying and relaxing air ioniser, a toxicity sensor and Teflon upholstery protection.
The 2013 Renault Zoe's price will start at £13,650 GBP when it will go on sale this fall.
