Volkswagen Beetle R Concept

After countless rumors, Volkswagen revealed today in Frankfurt the Beetle R Concept, which will most definitely make it into production. The Volkswagen Beetle R will be the sportiest version of the mode ever built, featuring a more powerful engine, new aerodynamics and an upgraded interior. In terms of design, the Volkswagen Beetle R features 30 mm wider front and rear bumpers, several air intakes for a sportier look, and a front spoiler / splitter. the central intake of the front bumper is used to supply cold air to the engine, while the side ones are meant to keep the brakes from overheating. The VW Beetle R also comes with a new bonnet with integrated air vents used for ventilation.

The rear Volkswagen equips the Beetle R with a

diffuser integrated into the spoiler, a new rear wing which increases the downforce on the car's rear axle. For that extra "go-faster" look, VW also gave the Beetle R a new exhaust system with two double tail pipes, left and right.

The Volkswagen Beetle R Concept is 15 mm wider than the regular car, thanks to its new wheel arches and side skirts. The Beetle R sits on a set of 20-inch rims.

Even though VW does not clearly mention it, the Beetle R will probably be powered by the same 2.0-liter TSI engine as the Volkswagen Scirocco R and the Volkswagen Golf R. We're not sure however, what will be the units power output in the Beetle R. We bet it will also get the signature exterior paint job.

For the interior of the Beetle R, Volkswagen is using sport bucket seats, called Ergopads and made from gray nubuck leather, a Nappa leather upholstery, various styling dashboard accents, aluminum sill plates and pedals. some of the interior features seen in the concept, might be used for the production version of VW's Beetle R.

We'll have more details on the Volkswagen Beetle R as soon as they're available.
