Volkswagen Beetle R Info

Volkswagen premiered the new 2012 Beetle at the beginning of this week, an R performance might already be on its way. Volkswagen announced its R performance division last year and since then they've launched the Golf R and Scirocco R. The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle R may very well be the next one in line. As in the case of the Golf and Scirocco, the Volkswagen Beetle R will probably get the 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine that develops 195 kW / 265 PS and 350 Nm of torque.

The performance figures of the VW Beetle R will probably be comparable to those of the Golf, meaning the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time should fall in the 5.5 seconds region. The top speed of VW's Beetle R will probably be limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).

If Volkswagen will build the Beetle R, they will probably equip it with the fast-shifting DSG transmission and a front-wheel-drive system.

In terms of design, the Volkswagen Beetle R will probably get new aerodynamics, with a new front spoiler with larger air intakes and integrated LED daytime running lights, new side skirts, and re-designed rear apron with an integrated diffuser. The Beetle R will probably come with a new exhaust system with two tailpipes.

At the interior, Volkswagen will fit the Beetle R with sportier seats new steering wheel and metal pedals.

At this point, the Volkswagen Beetle R is pure speculation, but we'll have more info on it when it is available.
