Toyota 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours Racer

Toyota's 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours racer was unveiled today, as the Japanese car manufacturer announced its return to the classic race. Toyota's new endurance racecar will be powered by a petrol hybrid powertrain and it will be based on a LMP1 specification chassis. The new Le Mans racecar will be built by Toyota Motorsport in Germany, with an engine produced by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. Toyota announced that they will start testing the new hybrid endurance racecar in early 2012.

The technical details of the new racecar are a closely guarded secret. Tadashi Yamashina, Toyota Motor Corporation Senior Managing Officer and Toyota Motorsport Chairman says that they hope that the new racer will write a new chapter in the competition's history.

The drivers who will compete in Toyota's new Le Mans racer will be announced at a later date.
