A new spy video has surfaced recently showing the 5 door version of the next generation 2012 BMW 1 Series. The 2012 BMW 1 Series 5 door prototype caught on camera is still covered in camo tape, so unfortunately, its main design features are undistinguishable. BMW's 2012 1 Series 5 door, as well as its 3 door version, will have a slightly wider track and will feature a longer wheelbase. This could take out a little bit of that tail happy action BMWs are known for, at the same time making the 2012 1 Series more manageable on snow and ice.
The 2012 BMW 1 Series 5 door and its 3 door sibling will go on sale later this year, but the exact date when they will hit the showroom floor is not known yet.
BMW will sell the 1 Series 5 door with both petrol and diesel engines mated to a rear-wheel-drive system. Various rumors are suggesting that the future 1 Series 5 door / 3 door might get the powerful 135i engine, but this has not been confirmed yet.
