BMW 1 Series Hatchback Gets AWD

BMW announced today that they're going to offer the intelligent xDrive four-wheel drive technology on the 1 Series hatchback (3-door version). The first two versions of the 1 Series to come with an AWD system are going to be the BMW 120d xDrive and the BMW M135i xDrive. Apart from the new AWD system, BMW also announced a few other novelties for the 1 Series model range. The BMW 114i is one of them. It comes with four-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 75 kW/102 hp. The BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Edition is also available now. It develops 85 kW/116 hp and emits just 99 g/km of CO2. Apart from the 114i and the 116d, all versions of the 2013 BMW 1 Series hatch are available with the eight-speed automatic transmission (optionally). The Auto Start/Stop function is available on all versions of the new 1 Series, while the ECO PRO mode comes with the EfficientDynamics technology package.

The price of the new AWD option for the BMW 1 Series hatchback has not been announced yet.
