BMW 114d Offers 57 MPG

BMW announced today that it's going to launch this fall a new version of the 114d 1 Series hatchback which promises to offer a fuel consumption of around 57 mpg (4.1 liters / 100 km). The new 2013 BMW 114d will come with an ECO driving mode, which, although not confirmed by the manufacturer, promises to offer a 3.5 liters / 100 km (67 mpg) fuel economy. The new 2013 BMW 114d is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, equipped with TwinPower Turbo Technology, variable turbine technology and Common Rail direct fuel injection with solenoid valves. The output of the new 114d is rated at 70 kW/95 hp at 4,000 rpm and 235 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,750 rpm. The new 1 Series 5-door is able to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 12.2 seconds and to reach a top speed of 185 km/h.

BMW's official specifications say that the new 2013 114d emits between 109 and 112 grams of CO2 per km, and that it requires between 4.1 and 4.3 liters of fuel per 100 km. The new BMW 114d (2013) comes equipped with brake energy regeneration, shift point indicator, Auto Start Stop function, electronic power steering, on-demand ancillary components and low rolling resistance tires. The BMW 114d's price has not been announced yet.
