Various sources are reporting today that the BMW 1 Series GT is in the works. BMW will use the same technique for the building the BMW 1 Series GT from the regular 1 Series, as it did with the 5 Series GT. No details of the BMW 1 Series GT have been officially released yet, but some believe it will have front-wheel-drive. We're not really sure if putting a FWD system in a BMW is such a good idea afterall. We bet most BMW fans will not appreciate that. However, the FWD model, which could very well be the BMW 1 Series GT, would probably attract more customers who are not so found of the RWD idea.
The BMW 1 Series GT, is it will ever become a reality, will probably be sold with both diesel and petrol engines, coupled with manual or automatic transmissions.
In terms of design, the BMW 1 Series GT will be something that would come out from a marriage between a 5-door hatchback and a full size station wagon. This could actually be a good idea. The BMW 1 Series GT would offer more luggage space than a regular hatch, and at the same time would be smaller than a station wagon. This could help the BMW 1 Series GT appeal more to the younger generation.
