The 2013 Nissan GT-R was unveiled today, with the Japanese carmaker releasing all the details of the updated version of the supercar. For the 2013 model year, Nissan is offering an even more powerful version of the GT-R, which also features several design changes. Nissan's 2013 GT-R has 20 PS and 20 Nm of torque more than the 2012 version. This means the total output of the car is now 550PS at 6,400rpm and 632Nm of torque between 3,200 and 5,800 rpm.

To get the extra horsepowers, Nissan improved the 2013 GT-R's intake efficiency, exhaust emissions efficiency and enhanced its control. The 2013 GT-R has a lower airflow resistance thanks to a modified intake manifold, and a smaller and lighter under floor catalyser.

Other changes brought by the 2013 GT-R's engine include new valve control and ignition timings, a new air mixture ratio, and a metallic sodium-filled exhaust valve. The transmission of the 2013 Nissan GTR is quieter and the supercar comes as standard with R35 COMPETITION type 2189E (75W140) high-performance differential oil.

For 2013, Nissan also modified the GT-R's suspension and brakes. For the right-hand-drive vehicles (UK, Australia and Japan), the suspensions is set asymmetrically, to compensate for the weight of the driver and the propeller shaft.

Nissan says that even though the new suspension makes the 2013 GT-R unbalanced when stationary, it manages to level the car during driving. In fact, they say it now has better responsiveness, smoothness and steering feel. Optionally, the 2013 Nissan GT-R can be fitted with NCCB (the company's ceramic brakes). They are available for the GT-R Premium Edition and EGOIST versions.

The 2013 Nissan GT-R is covered with a reinforced body, together with an improved the inter-vehicle detection capability, whatever that is.

For the interior of the 2013 GT-R, Nissan is now offering new dials with blue lighting, Bose Precision Sound System woofers and the Rear View Camera, which is now standard on all grades.

Japan and UK will also get a track-focused version of the 2013 Nissan GT-R, developed in collaboration with NordRing. Some of its highlights include a suspension, air guide for brake cooling and alloys from Rays. The track oriented 2013 GT-R comes with two seats only, a new front spoiler.

The 2013 Nissan GT-R price list, top speed and zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time have not been announced yet, but its manufacturer says it will go on sale in December. Watch Nissan's 2013 GT-R on video lower down this page.
