BMW M135i Specifications

 »  »  »

The BMW M135i, which is the high performance version of the new 1 Series hatch, was unveiled last weekend. BMW released all the specifications and a set of images of the new M135i, however, they forgot to show us its interior. We'll cut straight to the chase and present the preliminary specifications of the M135i. The power comes from the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, which features a Twin Scroll turbocharger, high precision direct injection, and fully variable valve control. BMW's new M car has an output of 235 (kW) / 320 hp at 5800 rpm and 450 Nm of torque, which are available between 1,300 rpm and 4,500 rpm. BMW's official performance figures say that the M135i is able to get from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.1 seconds (4.9 seconds automatic) and that it can reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The M135i's top speed is electronically limited. The hatchback could probably reach much higher speeds if set free. In case you're wondering, the M135i is rated with an 8.0 l/100 km (7.5 l/100 km automatic) combined fuel economy and a 188 g/km CO2 emissions level.

BMW presented the M135i in the three-door body configuration, the Bavarian carmaker assures us it will be available as a five-door hatch too. The M135i comes with all the M division's bells and whistles, including a special balance between drive, suspension and aerodynamics.

At launch, the M135i will be available as a 2WD model, but from November 2012, BMW will also sell it with the xDrive intelligent four-wheel drive system. The M135i will be the first 1 Series hatch to feature the xDrive system.

In terms of exterior design, the BMW M135i comes with a few unique features. These include the front apron with large air intakes, monster brakes, three-dimensional flaps on the outer air vents, distinctive side skirts, 18-inch alloys, and a rear apron, which frames a set of dual exhaust pipes. At the interior, the BMW M135i features aluminum door sills, an M leather steering wheel, an Anthracite roofliner, and various other styling details.

The BMW M135i specs say that the car will come as standard with Servotronic, Variable
Sports Steering. Special features include electronically controlled dampers and an M Sports Suspension, both reducing the M135i's ride height by 10 mm.

The BMW M135i's price has not been announced yet.
